A BITE OF MEXICO - A FAMILY STORY

Ours is a story of family, tradition, and entrepreneurship. Founded by cousins Ron Torres and Rick Barba, A Bite of Mexico honors and builds on their family roots. Ron, who helms the kitchen, has developed a selection of recipes inspired by his culinary curiosity and passion for authentic Mexican flavors and cooking methods.

Guests can sample unique takes on classics – many of which were perfected and passed on by family members who prepared feasts for gatherings large and small. From Aunt Caroline’s famous crispy fried tacos (Tacos Dorados) to Aunt Jenny’s slow-roasted Pork & Pepper, the menu mirrors the family’s food-centric legacy of slow-cooked meals and sauces made with fresh ingredients and homemade tortillas.

Chef Ron and Rick have each built businesses and raised their families in the Mokena area.

Since 2021, Chef Ron has operated a catering company and a made-to-order retail salsa business out of his New Lenox home, and Rick has long been involved in new home construction through Barba Concrete, a Frankfort-based company he founded in 1999.
